How to Join
- First Step: Attend a service, Bible study, or event. Emmanuel has an informal, welcoming approach to newcomers.
- Letter of Transfer: Episcopalians or Anglicans from other provinces can request a transfer. Confirmed members are entered in the Communicant Register; others in the Baptized Persons Register.
- Baptized Christians: Registered in the Baptized Persons Register and encouraged to seek Confirmation.
- Apostolic Succession Traditions: Those baptized and confirmed in Roman Catholic, Orthodox, or some Lutheran traditions may be formally Received by the bishop.
- Holy Baptism: Unbaptized individuals can prepare for Holy Baptism by contacting the clergy.
Confirmation & Reception
- Definition: A public commitment to the Christian faith and renewal of baptismal vows.
- The Service: Occurs during a bishop's parish visitation (such as by bishop-mayer). The bishop lays hands on candidates, praying for the Holy Spirit's empowerment.
- Preparation: Newcomers can enroll in the Enquirers Class to prepare for Confirmation or Reception.
