Welcome first

  • Anyone who has attended worship, Bible study, a service project, or a reception has taken the first step: showing up.
  • Membership is deliberately informal so newcomers feel included, not pressured. Visitors are considered part of the family.

Making it "official" (depends on your background)

  • Episcopalian or Anglican Communion member (e.g., Church of England, Anglican Church of Canada; 38 Provinces): request a Letter of Transfer from your home parish. Confirmed communicants join the Communicant Register; baptized but unconfirmed join the Baptized Persons Register and may take Confirmation class.
  • Baptized Christian from another tradition: enrolled in the Register of Baptized Persons; invited to Confirmation class.
  • Baptized and confirmed in a tradition with Apostolic Succession (bishops traced back to the 12 apostles; e.g., Roman Catholic, Orthodox, some Lutheran): may be received.
  • Not yet baptized: speak with a member of the clergy about preparing for Holy Baptism.

What is Confirmation?

  • A public commitment to the Christian faith, or a public affirmation of making the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion one's spiritual home.
  • Held when the bishop, the chief pastor of the diocese, visits the parish. Candidates renew baptismal vows, and the bishop lays hands on each and prays for the Holy Spirit's strength.

Next step

  • Sign up via the Enquirers Class Enrollment Form (link on the original page). Class dates are not stated in the summary.
