Emmanuel Episcopal Church

A special service of prayer, thanksgiving, and music to celebrate the completion of the pipe organ revision and expansion, the work of Dan Garland and his team from Garland Pipe Organ Works of Ft. Worth.

The existing pipe organ of 22 ranks, originally built in 1969 by Reuter Organ Company of Lawrence, Kansas was revoiced, the organ console was refitted with the latest solid state inner workings, pipe chests were refurbished, all leatherwork was replaced, and the pipe chamber was expanded, into which 14 new ranks of pipes were added. The pipe organ at Emmanuel now boasts 36 ranks, with two of those being digital, in 4 divisions: Great, Choir, Swell, and Pedal.

The service of Evensong will include congregational hymns, choral canticles and anthem, prayer of thanksgiving to God for the new pipe organ, for the benefactors who make it possible, and to dedicate it to the glory of God. The music of Evensong will be accompanied by Jane Hays Smith, Organist at Emmanuel. The Choir will be under the direction of Landon Gilmore, Choirmaster at Emmanuel. As a special reprise to Evensong, Dr. Louellen Meyer will give a dedicatory recital of works for organ. A celebration reception in the Hersbhberger Great Room will follow the worship service and recital.

The event is open to the public and free of charge. An offering will be received, to be designated for the Emmanuel Organ Fund, which will be used for the ongoing care and maintenance of the pipe organ.

Gifts to the Emmanuel Organ Fund will be gratefully received.

Checks may be made out to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, with Organ Fund in the memo line, and brought to the service or mailed to the church at 3 S. Randolph St., San Angelo, TX 76903.
